Wei Wang recognized at the 22nd ISPOR Annual International Meeting

Wei (Vivian) Wang, a fourth-year Ph.D. student in department of pharmaceutical outcomes and policy, received the Poster Finalist Award at the 22nd International Society for Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research, or ISPOR, Annual International Meeting in Boston. The award recognizes authors of the top research abstracts presented at the ISPOR meeting that featured over 1,850 presentations and nearly 4,195 attendees from 76 countries. In addition, Wei was one of 30 students to receive a ISPOR travel grant to attend the annual meeting, which were awarded on a competitive basis to student members.

Wei presented a poster titled, “Hepatitis C Treatment in Patients with Hepatitis B Virus/ Hepatitis C Virus Co-infection.” The research examined HCV treatment initiation and switch pattern for patients with HCV/HBV coinfection compared to HCV mono-infection in the Truven Health MarketScan Database from 2008-14. It also identified factors influencing initiation of HCV treatment which included interferon-based therapy and direct-acting antivirals.
