Pharm.D. APPE Opportunities
Pharmacy students at the University of Florida and other colleges/schools of pharmacy (as space permits) may pursue an Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experience (APPE) in precision medicine or in research. The precision medicine experience is led by Emily Cicali, Pharm.D., BCPS, a clinical assistant professor, who has experience with clinical implementation of pharmacogenetics through the UF Health Precision Medicine Program. UF pharmacy students should indicate their interest in this experience during the APPE scheduling process and non-UF students should contact Dr. Cicali for additional information and rotation availability. Priority is given to UF students enrolled in the Certificate in Personalized Medicine or planning on enrolling in an M.S. program at UF after Pharm.D. graduation.
Students may also participate in research with faculty mentors for one APPE slot. Students interested in the M.S. or Ph.D. program after Pharm.D. are encouraged to speak with potential mentors about opportunities to begin research during the APPE period. All requests for research APPEs must be indicated during the APPE scheduling process in the 3PD year.
Please note: ALL research activities conducted by Pharm.D. students as part of research electives, APPE, summer programs or for honors must be reviewed by our Regulatory and Compliance Office. Students participating in research electives, research APPE, or summer programs with UF faculty will be reviewed as part of the application process for these. All other students must complete the form located here prior to starting research.
Pharm.D. Honors Thesis
Research conducted as part of Research electives, ISRP or APPEs may be used for an Honors Thesis. Requirements for the thesis research paper can be found at Academic Honors.
Undergraduate Student Research
Currently enrolled undergraduate students at the University of Florida may be eligible to participate in research for credit, with approval of their home academic department. For more information or to request registration for the upcoming term, please contact the Office of Graduate Education.
