Graduate Student Orientation

The first day of Fall 2025 classes is Thursday, August 21. However, all new graduate students are expected to attend orientation sessions and department meetings before classes begin.

If you will be appointed as a Graduate Assistant, you must arrive before August 16. This is your employment start date, and you will need to complete all federally-required hiring paperwork before you can begin working.

UF New Graduate Student Orientation

  • Available to new graduate students through GradStart in Canvas. Access will be available in early August.
  • Includes live workshops and information sessions to help with the transition to graduate study.
  • International students are required to complete the International Center module.
  • More details, including a full schedule, will be available on the UF Graduate School’s orientation website.

College of Pharmacy New Graduate Student Orientation

  • Required in-person attendance for all newly admitted students.
  • Will be held in-person at the main UF campus in Gainesville.
  • Lake Nona students will attend in-person at the LN campus and participate via live-stream.
  • The Office of Graduate Education will provide more details to new admits closer to the event date.

Department New Graduate Student Orientation

  • Department orientation events vary across concentrations.
  • Events will be scheduled by the concentration’s graduate coordinator and department admin staff.
  • Newly admitted students will receive information from the department regarding their events and requirements.
